THE ORIGINS OF AMERICAN MUSIC
You could begin this sotry almost anywhere: on a salve shio or in an lish pub, for instance. it is a story about America, but all American sotries have their origins in tha places from which its people originated. It's the sorty of how one country took all these disparate cultural influences and created the sountrack to the 20th century, leading revolutions of youth, race and much more on the way. Starting with the birth of jazz and continuing through the evolution of gospel, the blues, country, rock and soul in the 60s, we dicover how each musical revolution came from a specific place in the USA, with its own sotry to tell. The evoltution didn't end there, of course, but the musical sotry that came after will have to wait for anather day...
ALOHA FROM HAWAII
You can't really understand Barack until you undertand Hawaii; Micheelee Obama once said of her husband, who was bron here in 1961. For although the seven inhabited islands of the Hawaiin archipelago constitute the 50th state of the USA, this place is very far from America, both literally and culturally.Beach party time
While the commercial luaus- usually a hotel dinner with dancers and singing- are impossibly kitsch, the beach party featuring a dreadlocked dude with a guitar is also a long way from the traditional luau, but given that you're on a Hawaiian beach under the stars, listening to the sound of the waves well, who cares?
HOME CINEMA
AUSTRALIA

It's the most expensive film ever to be made in Australia, but Baz Luhrmann's Nicole Kidmam-starring drama, dissapoints...
After making stylised films such as Moulin Rouge Australian director Baz Luhrmann attempts a big love story with a dramatic historial setting - australia in the Second Worl War. But result is not the Antipodean Titanic that he would like it to be.
the tone mixes comedy, romance and drama. Nicole Kidman is not good at comendy, however, and the firt thirty minuts of Australia is a painful experience in which she tries too hard to be funny.
